I had to make a new storyboard showing the revised ending after several long meetings with the crew of Dust. We felt like the story didn't have Sal going through enough character development or clearly establish a more solid and clearly established character conflict with his mom that would make him start to turn his life around. He was just a sad and depressed character that with some magical help from the dove, started to improve his life. He didn't do enough as a character and we kept asking, "Why is he depressed? Why does he release the dove? What emotions does he show with his mom? Why does he choose to get out of the cycle of depression and drugs?"
The drawings are very rough because I was focused on telling the story, not making the pictures look pretty, which I was going to do later once it was reviewed by the rest of the team members.
Sal picks up a photo of him and his mom that he drew when he was younger and this helps him accept his mom for what she is.
I still have to add some more to the ending but the class and my group felt like most of the ending is complete. I loved the idea of having young Sal turning to dust and covering the mirror, it serves as a good metaphor for how adult Sal has to wipe away the bad memories of his childhood and confront a problem that has held him back for so long.
Later I have to board some credit ideas and titles.
